Participate and Volunteer

Attend forums, invite neighbors and friends to participate with you and to make a donation, email us with speaker ideas, and/or volunteer your time. By volunteering your time, you ensure that we are able to continue our work and mission: to raise awareness of the relationship between environmental issues and the incidence of cancer. Call for Board Members

The Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project [WCPP] is a nonprofit, nonpartisan group that studies the relationship between cancer and the environment in the suburban setting with the goal of reducing health risk factors for the community. The WCPP was founded in 1997, and received our non-profit status in 2003. Our mission is to raise awareness of the relationship between environmental issues and the incidence of cancer, with the goal of reducing health risk factors for the community. We have also found that, through our website, we have reached beyond our community. Recent forums we have presented have included such subject matters as breast cancer, safe cosmetics, plastics exposure, and chemicals in food. You can also find information on these, as well as many other presentations, on our website.

We are seeking to encourage more active participation on our Board so that we can increase the number of programs we present to the community and become more active in promoting our mission. We are seeking board members who have a commitment to cancer prevention, who exemplify that commitment in their lifestyles, and who are dedicated and willing to put in the work that is needed to expand our Board’s mission. The time commitment required is attending one meeting per month (except in July and August, when we do not meet) and putting in some additional time (no more than 4-5 hours per month) working on forum-related tasks.

Please email the President of the Wellesley Cancer Prevention Project at info@wcpponline if you are interested in becoming a Board Member.
